In the briefest moments, I get a little bit scared.
And I start wondering what might happen if I get the Corona virus or if anyone I love gets the virus.
And I stop myself.
I’ll tell you what – old, anxious me, would probably have been dead by now from all the worrying about all the things that MIGHT happen.
But not this me…
I’m actively choosing not to let fear control me.
There’s a lot of people out there looking into the gaping chasms of dark possibilities, chaos waiting to leap out of the darkness and creep its lonely hand around their shoulder.
If you ever start feeling like this, tell fear to fuck off!
Remember, fear doesn’t control us.
We control our fears.
But first we have to accept them.
It’s ok to be scared.
It’s completely ok to have NO IDEA what you’re doing right now. You just have to accept that you don’t know.
Accept the fact that none of us have a clue how this is all going to work out.
We don’t know if we will get the virus and we don’t know how we will react to it if we do.
And so, there’s absolutely nothing to be achieved by worrying about it.
You’re not alone.
Most of us are muddling our way through this, just concentrating on placing one foot after the other, not really knowing what’s going to happen.
So don’t let fear paralyse you.
Concentrate on what you can do right now.
Stay in and follow the instructions we’ve all been given.
That’s it.
That is all any of us can do right now.
So if the fear starts spiralling – just take a breath and a break and bring it back to the moment and remember you are doing all that you can.
For me, that’s staying in isolation, apart from the food shop.
I’m choosing to look for all the good things going on. When you choose to look for them, you find them.
I’m focusing on what I can control.
Staying in the moment.
I’m steering clear of doom and gloom and the drama queens and the naysayers and the complainers and the drainers.
Now is the time to stop obsessing about all the “what ifs”.
Fear is a complex and tangled web, don’t let it get its claws on you.
Stay in the moment and stay in the light.
And keep smiling!
